About Us

For every person, true delight in God
At Alkimos Baptist Church, we're a bunch of ordinary people who have been saved by an extraordinary God. We're keen to see more and more people experience this rescue and enjoy God.

Our "about us" is actually "about God". From preaching to praying, from doing life together to welcoming in new people, from worshipping to witnessing, we strive to point all people, including ourselves, to the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
Our Story
We are a church plant from North Beach Baptist Church (NBBC).
NBBC planted Woodvale Baptist Church and Craigie Baptist Church and since 2015, they desired to plant another church, this time in the Alkimos region.
In 2023, Jordan and Jenna Burgess, along with their four children, moved to North Beach with the intention of leading the plant. In 2024, they moved up north, gathered a launch team and began meeting and praying.
The prayers of Jordan and Jenna and NBBC at large have been answered! A new church began in Alkimos in the winter of 2025. All are eager to see how the story continues.

Meet the Team
It's everyone!

At Alkimos Baptist Church, the Ministry Team is never just the paid staff and pastors. We believe that God has given skills and opportunities to all of his people. That means that everyone here is part of the team. People serve one another, pray for one another, encourage one another and work together to reach the community for Jesus. At ABC, everyone is on the Ministry Team. It's the family business!
Pastor
Jordan Burgess
Jordan was appointed by North Beach Baptist Church to be the pastor and planter of Alkimos Baptist Church. Prior to vocational ministry, he worked as a physics teacher in Gawler, South Australia. He also enjoys preaching, and hearing people’s stories about God at work. Jordan and his wife Jenna have four young children – Theodore, Verity, Malachi and Felicity. Time with family is precious indeed. In his spare time, he has been known to engage in fantasy football, watch cricket or try learning biblical Hebrew.

But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.
